February 18th is the 10th anniversary of the launching of VISION 2020: The Right to Sight by Dr. Harlem Brundtland, Director General of WHO at the time. However, the commemoration will be postponed until the publication of the data generated by all National VISION 2020 Committees, in 2010. Instead, the IAPB and its members will focus this year in the subjects “Gender and Eye Health”, with great potential for attention and advocacy for World Sight Day (WSD09) to be celebrated the second Thursday in October.

Preparations have already started and are led by the Kilimanjaro Centre for Community Ophthalmology in Tanzania. The official report will be coordinated by Dr. Paul Courtright, Director of such center and all are invited to participate in the drafting of such report.
